I am a Doula UK registered birth doula. Having been an unregistered doula for several years I finally did a preparation course with Mindful Doulas and registered with Doula UK after being mentored by Developing Doulas. I am also an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor with 14 years experience, IBLCE Lactation Consultant, birth researcher, author and campaigner for woman centred maternity care.
I’m based close to Lincoln itself, 10 minutes from Lincoln County Hospital, and will travel to locations within a 50 mile radius of Lincoln City Centre.
I have experience in VBAC and a good working relationship with local maternity units in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.
Having had my own babies in birth centres, home and hospitals (including two caesareans and two home VBACs) I can appreciate what goes into the choice of location for the birth of your baby! Your baby only gets one ‘birth day’ and I believe that making it a safe, joyous and empowering occasion is one of the best gifts you can give your baby and yourself as a new mother!
I have had two straightforward midwife-led births, one preventable caesarean, one home birth after caesarean (VBAC or HBAC) one complicated emergency caesarean (a direct result of previous surgery) and a home VBA2C (vaginal birth after two caesareans). I’ve successfully breastfed all six of my earth-side children. I have also lived through the heart-breaking loss that is miscarriage, and I am more than happy to offer grief support without charge for anyone who needs it.
“No one who has ever brought up a child can doubt for a moment that love is literally the life-giving fluid of human existence.”
