Are you pregnant, planning a pregnancy or wondering how to support someone who is? Congratulations! Excited and a bit nervous? You are on an amazing journey, one filled with more choices than you might imagine. All of a sudden you may find your life filled with advice, stories, tests, check-ups and an opinion from almost everyone you meet. If you have doubts, feel overloaded or want more or different information you are not on your own, but that is not something to worry about, the real trick is to get yourself good quality information that works and support that will help you use it at the moment that matters most, and find someone to help you build and protect your birthspace, whatever you choose and wherever you birth your baby.
That support has real and provable benefits… Having experienced and confident female support there, just for you and your partner, in your pregnancy and during labour can:
• Shorten first-time labour by an average of 2 hours
• Reduce the need for pain medication by 36%
• Reduce rates of instrumental delivery by 57%
• Reduce the use of caesarean section by 51%
• Increase your success in initiating breastfeeding and keeping going
• Increase satisfaction with the birth for both you and your partner

I’m Vicki Williams,
Birthkeeper, Doula, NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor and Lactation Consultant
If you want to find out more about how to give yourself the best chance of making your pregnancy relaxing and joyous and your birth calm and empowering step inside, have a look round, my door is always open for a chat. Your first birth support meeting is free. Breastfeeding support is provided via NCT, you don’t have to be a client or an NCT member, you can either contact me direct or you can call the NCT Helpline (0300 330 0771).
I offer tailored birth preparation and individual one to one support before, during and after birth to help you achieve the calm and gentle birth you and your baby want. Those who say that birth does not matter may just have forgotten that the mother is human too. Happy mummies make for happy babies, happy children, happy families. It really does matter, and however your baby is born, it is easier to start being a parent if you feel well cared for.
If you are a fellow birth professional, I offer inspiring workshops focusing on supporting normal birth and supporting women emotionally. I can also offer breastfeeding workshops for mums and for the professionals supporting them. Come inside and have a look at what you can achieve…
I firmly believe that most women (at least 95%) are able to birth their babies and breastfeed safely and successfully if given the right continuity of support and conditions that make them feel safe, something that is often difficult to find in our current over-stretched maternity system. Even for those who need a little more help, there is no reason why your birth and early parenting can not be calm, empowering and respectful of your wishes and choices.
As a doula I am here to help you get that support and to help create the right conditions for safe and empowering birth and a good start to parenting. As a breastfeeding supporter I am able to help when breastfeeding needs a little help to get going, to offer high quality, evidence-based information, ideas and support when there are problems and to help you prepare for your birth and breastfeeding experience and to find the solutions that work for YOU.
Talk to me, find out more about what I do or what I can offer you, you can email me firstname.lastname@example.org or call me on 07787 547472.
I’m looking forward to listening to you.
I was also a founder member of the Fertility and Birth (FAB) Network™, an organisation promoting choice, confidence and control for women and their bodies.
Close your eyes and you will see clearly
Cease to listen and you will hear truth
Be silent and your heart will sing
Seek no contacts and you will find union
Be still and you will move forward
On the tide of the spirit
Be gentle and you will need no strength
Be patient and you will achieve all things
Be humble and you will remain entire.
